- 16 classroom teachers from Transition to Year Six

Every year Nightcliff Primary the host The Netherlands’ Nuon Solar Team from the Delft University of Technology. This year they are seeking to retake the crown from Tokai University at this year’s World Solar Challenge. The two teams will again compete in the Challenge Class category for this year’s race.
The Dutch team held the World Solar Challenge title four times in a row in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007. This year, Nuon will field the “Nuna 7” (Icelandic for “now”). The team took second place in the 2009 and 2011 race. In the 2011 World Solar Challenge, Nuna 6 (pictured above) finished second behind Tokai Challenger which won the race with a lead time of one hour and five minutes.
Hosting this team allows the students from Nightcliff Primary to be participate in this journey and oversee the various stages of development in this creation of their solar power vehicle.
